A keen sportsman, Gregory first started sailing with his family and, after working his way through the Optimist, Laser and 420 fleets, he moved onto larger boats and joined the Tour de France à la Voile circuit while completing his education. Antoine Koch spotted his talent, and he joined the crew on the multihull Sopra for the final years of the ORMA class. In 2007, he went on to skipper the figaro Sopra.

Buoyed by his solo experience, Grégory returned to the multihull classes and sailed with several different teams to build up his knowledge base. His expertise and experience in multihulls make him a crewmember of choice for any attempt on the Jules Verne Trophy.
